Email Accounts

This is the section of the settings where you can add and manage email accounts in SerialMailer.

To add an account, choose New Email Account from the + menu below the accounts list.

SerialMailer will then show a window with a list of well-known email service providers.

If your provider is not in the list, choose Manual Configuration to enter your server settings manually.

You can find examples for common email accounts in the Account Setup Examples section.

Email Account Settings

When selecting an account in the Accounts list, its details will be displayed on the right.

The “Account Name” can be edited in the topmost text field. This name is used within SerialMailer to help you distinguish between different accounts. You can choose any name you prefer.

The rest of the settings are organized into three sections: Info, Server, and Advanced.

Info Section

This section includes basic settings such as “Full Name” and “Email Address,” which appear in the “From” field of all emails sent from this account. These details are visible to recipients as the sender’s address.

Server Section

Here, you can configure how SerialMailer connects to your email server. These are your outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings, provided by your email service provider. Do not use POP or IMAP settings as they are intended for receiving emails, not sending them. SerialMailer may automatically detect these settings based on your email address.

Advanced Section

In the Advanced section, you can modify the “reply-to” address for your emails and set a “Send Rate Limit”. This limit helps manage the delivery of emails by introducing a delay after sending a batch. This feature is beneficial for adhering to email server restrictions on the number of emails sent within a specified timeframe.

Legacy Account Types

The + menu has a “Legacy Account Types” section. These account types are no longer fully supported and remain in SerialMailer only for backwards compatibility. It is not recommended to use these types when setting up a new account.

The type “Send via Apple Mail” allows SerialMailer to control the Apple Mail app instead of sending the emails by itself.

With “Local Server” SerialMailer would run its own mail server on your computer to send the emails.

Templates

You can install and remove custom design templates under the Templates tab. To install a template, press the Add Template button and select the folder containing the template files.

The structure of the template folder is basically a website with a central index.html, which contains the text [[[message]]]. This text will then be replaced by the text of your email message.

A typical template folder looks like this:

Blacklist

The blacklist is a global list of email addresses to which SerialMailer will send no emails. The addresses can either be added manually or by importing a file that contains one address per line.

You can use * as a wildcard character to block multiple addresses at once. For example, *@mail.com would block all addresses ending in @mail.com.

SerialMailer Settings

If the “Ignore … errors” option is enabled, SerialMailer will not cancel the send process immediately when an error occurs. This can be helpful if you know that some of the email addresses in your database might be outdated and you want SerialMailer to continue sending even if some of the emails can’t be delivered.

Unlocking the Full Version

SerialMailer initially runs in trial mode, limiting you to 10 recipients per email document. To unlock the full, unlimited version, the process depends on where you purchased the application.

If You Purchased Directly from the SerialMailer Website:

  1. You should have received an email containing your registration Name and License Code.

  2. Open SerialMailer.

  3. Go to the SerialMailer menu at the top-left of your screen (next to the Apple menu).

  4. Choose Register SerialMailer….

  5. A window will appear.

  6. Enter your Name and License Code exactly as they appear in your registration email.

  7. Click Unlock.

  8. SerialMailer will verify your details and unlock the full version.

Important: The license code is valid only for the version of SerialMailer downloaded directly from the website, not the Mac App Store version.

If You Purchased from the Mac App Store:

  1. No license code is needed.

  2. Ensure you are signed into the Mac App Store with the same Apple ID you used to purchase SerialMailer.

  3. Download and install SerialMailer from the Mac App Store.

  4. Launch the App Store version of SerialMailer.

SerialMailer will automatically detect your purchase through the App Store receipt and unlock the full version. You do not need to enter any code.

Important: If you purchased from the Mac App Store, you must use the version downloaded from the App Store. The version downloaded from the SerialMailer website cannot detect App Store purchases.
